How Resource Allocation Works Across Multiple Sites

In Performance Cloud, your package resources are shared across all sites, while each site has its own assigned package that defines its limits.

This article explains how resource usage is displayed and how to interpret it when hosting multiple sites.

How resources are assigned

  • Each site is assigned a package (Small, Medium, Large, or custom).

  • A package defines the site’s resource limits, such as:

    • CPU

    • Memory

    • Storage

    • Traffic

    • I/O

  • Packages control how much a site can use, not how much the server has overall..

How resources are used across sites

  • All sites run on the same server environment.

  • Resource usage is tracked:

    • Per site, based on its activity

    • Combined across all sites, showing total server usage

High usage by one or more sites can increase the combined resource usage, even if other sites show low activity.

Where to monitor resource usage

You can monitor resource usage from two places:

  • Sites section
Shows usage indicators for individual sites.

  • Resources section
Shows combined usage across all sites over the last 7 days.

Important notes

  • Combined resource usage reflects total server activity, not a single site.

  • Package limits are applied at the site level.

  • Resource usage visibility helps identify trends, but detailed resource enforcement and configuration are handled through WHM.

  • If custom resource limits are modified outside of predefined packages, displayed values may not always reflect exact configurations.

Overselling Resources

You are allowed to oversell the resources you have in the Performance Cloud package you’ve purchased. This is because on average sites don’t use all the resources you’ve allowed them. A good rule of thumb is to only oversell by 2X. Beyond that and you run the risk of all your sites degrading in performance. At that point you should consider upgrading your Performance Cloud package to a higher level.
