Your WHC email account works in any mail app that supports IMAP — Outlook, Apple Mail, the Gmail app, Thunderbird and others. This article gives you the settings every app asks for, and links the setup guide for each one.
Before you start
You need an email address that already exists. If you haven't created one yet, see how to create and manage email accounts.
Have your email password ready. This is the password you set when you created the address — not your cPanel password and not your Client Area password.
Find your settings in the Client Area
The Client Area shows the exact IMAP and SMTP settings for your account, so you don't have to work them out yourself.
Log in to your Client Area.
Click Email in the left menu, then click Manage next to your email account.
Find your email address in the list, then click Connect Devices.
Scroll down to Mail Client Manual Settings. Your server names and ports are listed there.
Your email settings
If you can't reach the Client Area, these are the settings for every WHC email account. Use IMAP so your messages stay in sync across all your devices.
Field | Value |
Username | Your full email address, for example |
Password | Your email account password |
Incoming server (IMAP) |
|
Outgoing server (SMTP) |

Replace yourdomain.com with your own domain name.
If your DNS is hosted somewhere else: mail.yourdomain.com only works once that name points to WHC. At your DNS provider, add an A record with the host mail and your WHC IP address as the value — see how to find the IP address of your website. Your security certificate is issued automatically after that, which can take a few hours. Until it is, your mail app may warn that it can't verify the server.
Set up your app
The settings above are the same in every app. These guides show you where to enter them:
How do I set up my email in Outlook? — Windows, Mac, and the Outlook mobile app.
How do I set up my email in Apple Mail? — Mac, iPhone and iPad.
For Thunderbird, see Mozilla's official Thunderbird documentation. For the Gmail app on Android, see Google's official help. In both cases, use the settings above.
Confirm it worked
Send a message from your new account to another address you can check, then reply to it. You'll know the setup is complete when the reply arrives in your mail app. Sending and receiving use different servers, so test both.
